The endless hype turned out to be a double-edged sword for Apple however; it raised expectations too high. When the curtains were pulled off the new iPad yesterday at Apple's keynote, it was immediately (and largely) criticized by many. And in my opinion, rightfully so. The device isn't ambitious enough, the cost is too high, and in the end, it just doesn't fit in well with all the other gadgets people already enjoy using. Here's everything that I think is wrong with the iPad, and why it is already destined for failure. Continue reading →

Has it really been over a week since I've posted here? Well, my apologies for the delay – it's been a busy time for me over the last week, and I just haven't been able to find the time to write anything. I've meant to though, so hopefully I'll be getting back on track with this post. In the interest of everyone's time, here's a quick list of everything I've been up to over the last couple of weeks that has contributed, in one way or another, to my lag in blog posts. Continue reading →

In his writeup, IGN Australia editor Patrick Kolan unveils a list of ten problems that he feels are so rampant in modern game design that they will ultimately lead to the demise of the entire industry. Upon reading this list, however, you'll probably come to the same (and expected) conclusion that I did: that many of these items aren't really even problems at all, and that being informed about things isn't a requirement of IGN editors. Continue reading →
