From what I can tell that is more than satisfactory for him. To be quite honest I don't like the idea of expected gifts, as in birthday or christmas gifts. If I buy a gift I want it to be sometime the recipient doesn't expect it, ya know? I find it more and more awkward to buy gifts for my friends as we get older. This past year I've paid for two friends meals, and webhosting for one year for another's website. I'm running out of ideas. :( My family and I cooked breakfast and lunch for my dad. From what I can tell that is more than satisfactory for him.

I think my generalization was a bit too broad on that one. Cell phones are an easy target, because the newer they are, the more advanced they get... and I just can't see many middle-aged people using the more complicated phones.
